Netwalking. Our Co-founder Chris talks the walk on a dawn raid to Kinder Scout.

Freshwalks has been on my to-do list for a good few years now. It's a brilliantly simple idea: business networking built around hillwalking. I've never been a fan of the traditional 'business breakfast' type event; the mere thought of which brings memories of excruciating small talk and disgusting coffee flooding back. Walking and talking with a pack on my back in the great outdoors though – that I can do.

Dawn on Kinder Scout from Outsiders agency

So, never one to rush into things, I finally got round to my first Freshwalk last week. It was to be a dawn ascent of Kinder from Edale. Sunrise is about as late as it gets at this time of year, the forecast was cold and clear and the start point was only half an hour from my house so I had no excuse.

Specialist outdoor agency. Dawn on Kinder Scout.

I'll let the pictures do the talking. Seeing the sun gradually brightening the horizon and appearing behind the Great Ridge was a truly stunning sight. There was an intensity to starting the walk in the dark with a bunch of strangers, experiencing that sunrise and basking in its light for the return leg that made the whole endeavour feel so special and the bonds made so much deeper than its 3 hour duration would suggest.

Can't wait to experience what Freshwalks founder Michael di Paola called 'the sheer bloody joy of it all' again.
